If any of your favorite pokemon got cut, then you have already used that pokemon in a previous generation and thus you shouldn't be using it again, it ruins your experience.
Also, most of the cut pokémon were unpopular to begin with (eg: venusaur) or pokemon that would be shit without megas (eg: lopunny)
