The games are weird though with their canon. They'll explain something very vividly in one way but then the actual game play mechanics won't follow that at all. I get it's just for sake of ease and for the games to be more fun, but it's hard to know what's concrete or what isn't with all the contradictions.
It's a shame the higher-ups are so protective, since both staff at GameFreak and the Anime both have definitive ideas on how things work, but aren't allowed to talk about or implemented them in-game (or in-show), outside of a few mentions years down the line.
