Even in the wish fulfillment land that is PMEX, where Lysandre is just alive, Sycamore is still so sad, and so desperate to course-correct. I was always afraid of how they'd be portrayed in PMEX(and Kalos in general tbqh)before they were added but I was pleasantly surprised, they really understood the characters and their appeal... so I hope that the new game understands that too.
all of this to say yes! I love seeing Sycamore miserable and broken down! I think it's because he looks so happy, always putting on a persona for the kids, but you just know he's sad and worried and guilty inside.
