Like, I get that it can be a hassle if you're just trying to build a cool team of Johtomons to play the game with and not focus on catching Pokemon and then to assemble your team it involves waiting until a different time of day, or waiting a day or two til the bug catching contest, making trade evolutions happen, following swarms, using the Pokewalker, using the safari zone, waiting for Ralph to call you, headbutting trees, etc.
But if you actually want to fill up the Pokedex and you're in it for the long haul they're easily the most engaging games to catch Pokemon in
