Can someone tell me what's going through his brain? Why is it seemingly impossible to give their fanbase what they want? How is this guy in charge?
I understand that Pokémon is a massive brand, and that they can lowball everything, because there will always be the next generation of kids that will play it for the brand alone, along with the hardcore whales that will buy anything with a Pokémon label. But is that really an excuse to downgrade and cut corners? Do they think that Pokémon is to big to fail, so that they don't have to put any effort into anything?
I think Lego and The Pokémon Company are very similar. Lego started out as a kids brand, but as time went by, Adult fans started to become the main fambase and consumers, (AFOL/adult fan of lego). It took ages for Lego to realise this, but they eventually started to cater to their adult fanbase, as they became aware that AFOL's and collectors are the main consumers of Lego.
Pokémon KNOWS Kanto is their most profitable region, because it's what ADULTS love. They just can't help themselves but pander to it. It's time for them to take the next step, based on this logic, stop downgrading the newer games and regions, and you you will see profits behind your compression, because EVERYONE likes quality.
