Also, "professor" is an academic title conferred to a teaching lecturer/tutor who had contributed significantly to the academic endeavor. The title is honorary and temporary, different from "Doctor" which is permanent. The title "Professor" can only be used as long as the person is still teaching. Once they are retired, they have to drop the professor title, but keep the "Doctor" title of they have it. Which means, all Pokemon professors are actively teaching in universities. But interestingly, NONE of them holds the title "Doctor", not even Samuel Oak who is often regarded as "the top Pokemon researcher in the world".

Petty "gen wars" amongst 3/4/5/6/7 are so silly and pointless. All of these gens are part of the same universe and I enjoyed each and every one of them. You can transfer your bros from RSE to USUM and everything in between, keep the unique tutor moves each generation and whatever else you want. But gen 8 onward is a new separate universe where they remove features, retcon movepools, delete certain moves from the game entirely, and of course shrink the pokedex. Continuity was utterly disrupted by gen 8 in a way that it never had been before. I'm not hopeful for gen 9 either, based on what we've seen so far.
P.S. - gen 1-2 are classics and thus immune to criticism.
