Pokemon should've stopped introducing new monsters after gen 1 or maybe 2 and focused on giving the pokemon they already had more attention with things like variants and forms, and evolutions of old pokemon if they really really had a good idea for one (i.e. scrap most of the gen 4 evos). I understand that new pokemon is what keeps people buying the games but it's a shame to see so many left by the wayside after all these years so gf can make room for new postermons (lucario, greninja, other giga popular pokemon that last through generations), shillmons that'll be dropped after a year, shitty new battle gimmicks, and direct upgrades/downgrades of older pokemon. I love the idea of a fully fledged ecosytem, and XY showed how great it can be to have hundreds of pokemon available, but gf cannot pull it off well.
Most of my favorites outside of lapras are from gen 3+.
