He wants to learn everything there is to know about Pokemon, right? He should branch out and work alongside them in as many ways as possible.
And yeah, I'll forever be salty we missed out on some kino Gary vs. Goh battles. Of all the things to cut! I'll always want more Gary/Goh, and it hurts knowing that I could've, in fact, had exactly that, but it got scrapped. DAMMIT.
