I've yet to see an actual defense or justification for Dexcut that has held any water, even competitive falls back to the same staple Pokemon it did the last generation like Incineroar, so the defense of them using the dexcut to shake up the meta falls flat, just like it did in Gen 8 where Lando, Chomp and the usual top tiers were running around.
Here's my unpopular Pokemon opinion; dexcut only exists because Gamefreak wants to use old Pokemon as leverage to get people to buy underwhelming DLC, "all starters returning" was a big selling point in the pre-release season, despite Starters not actually adding much of anything to the game, they were still locked behind mission grinds because Gamefreak KNOWS people want to use them.
Meanwhile SV is still horribly lacking in content and doesn't even have a battle tower, with two waves of DLC the only things still left to do are the Pokedex, Raids (which are broken) and shiny hunting.
The other reason dexcut exists is to get paypiggies to keep giving money for the HOME sub fee. It's been like 5 years and 4 games since SWSH, there is literally no reason why they can't add any missing Pokemon to the game at this point, I refuse to believe anyone who disagrees with this is being genuine and not just going to bat for a multi billion corporation out of a personal sense of loyalty to a fucking brand name.
