Because Fairy type doesn't really convey that in the theming of any of its mons.
It's just the pink, cute, or feminine/beautiful type. The only fairy mons that aren't pink/cute/feminine/beautiful are G-Weezing, the Grimmsnarl line, the Tapus, and Zacian.
If Fairy actually represented the bizarre, interesting, and creepy fae creatures from folklore (pic related is a fairy), people wouldn't hate it.
