We arrive on a beach filled with tubers and sailors with our sights now set on finding Captain Stern who's waiting on his delivery of Devon Goods. There's a sailor with a Zigzagoon that knows how hang ten on this beach, and you can grab some drinks inside the little beach house if your Pokemon are thirsty.
Slateport's slogan is "The port where people and Pokémon cross paths with nature." To the left we have a bazaar where you're free to buy some dolls. You can come back here later after getting the TM Secret Power to buy some neat amenities, trinkets, and knick-knacks for your secret bases! In Stern's Shipyard Stern is nowhere to be found. He's actually in the Oceanic Museum along with some pesky Aqua Grunts, though if you ask me I really wasn't paying attention to anything they said because the S.S. Anne remix playing was going too hard in the background:

I'm assuming you're not that interested in Water Samples 1 and 2 (originally called water from Kanto and Johto in R/S), so you're free to leave and check out the Pokémon Fan Club or even Slateport Harbor. To the far north is a Battle Frontier Battle Tent for training. This is the Battle Factory one and actually lets players access tons of new Pokemon they haven't encountered yet up this point crazily enough. Lastly in Slateport is the Name Rater and even a lighthouse as well, the latter of which likely guiding sailors who come in from the eastern water route.
Personally I'd say we have yet to come across my real favorite locations or towns/cities in Pokémon Emerald, but Slateport is definitely a classic.
