So after Kanto, you get passage into Johto. You take on the gyms, maybe foil some of team rocket's other plans. Fight through the league again. And as champion you explore strange going ons. Pokemon warp portals and whatever. Champion work.
Eventually a call ends up with you exploring Mt. Silver when come kid in a back turned hat comes up to you.
Something like that would be a nice way to reboot it or some shit.
