>>45961292Why? LGPE was even more rushed and unambitious but it did turn out better.
It's not even about whether or not the games are rushed anymore, they just decide to make them shit.
You could have SM or SWSH with following Pokemon, 18 gyms and trials, a post-game region, ten wild areas, and high budget cinematic cutscenes or voice acting and you'd still have hot garbage.
>>45961346This is exactly why.
Pokemon exploration died with Gen 6. LGPE was a breath of fresh air because it was the first game since HGSS and base DP that actually let you do thinks in the order you want to do them. Alola and Galar just boil down to following the flag marker on the map and if that's not enough they still gate off everything else that you could possibly want to do or check out even if you don't have the tools to go there. Even the fucking wild area is guilty of this. There's no reason they couldn't have let us go to Hammerlocke, the most interesting city in Galar, and had it just blocked off like Lumiose was.
Nope. They had to put a person smack dab on the entrance for no reason and when you do get to go there it's not even for any reason. You're arbitrarily stumbling forward because the game decides it's time to do so. You can argue Unova and Kalos had railroading but at the very least they gave you the option to check things out even if you were going to run into a stupid roadblock. There was almost always a reason to do so, no matter how insignificant.
