I know that female trainers acting like mommys aren't something exclusive to May, but she fitted the bill the best.I'm really glad you enjoyed it. I was tempted to skip over it during my rewatch because everyone says the Lucario movie was the peak, but this ended up being my favorite of the AG movies. I think the "mom" vibe is something that dies with May and Misty; I couldn't imagine doing a similar movie with Dawn, Serena or the Alola girls. The writers seemed to like making the rest of the female companions at Ash's maturity or below, which makes for a different, but usually interesting dynamic on its own. I do miss my moms though.
