>>45699048I always see drawings of her as the small doll-like fae creature she is. Any time I see a drawing of her that's comically inaccurate, it was generally made before that detail about her design was commonly known.
Plus I think the colors honestly serve to highten her creepy factor. She just has this weird, dream-like vibe to her that feels like she just crawled straight out of the feywilds to snare some unlucky soul away. She and Shiinotic are the only fairy type pokemon that I think are inseparably bonded with the type: they just wouldn't work as anything else, and they both have color schemes that are cute but only serve to increase how creepy and weird they can be.
Of course, though, Hatterene's also just genuinely fucking precious. I'm glad it ended up being so good.
