>>48284486That's because Hatt's an awesome Pokemon, and it can hold it's own when compared to others in regards to design and inspiration. It's just a really cool execution of a Fairy Tale Witch, and it's design is filled to the brim with little details and motifs that are subtle enough so that they don't overcrowd it but still make an impact in improving the design. Hatterene checks the boxes for cute, creepy, nightmarish, badass, and isn't afraid to stick to it's motif. I honestly think it's the best fairy type design alongside Shiinotic, because they both perfectly capture a surreal, dream-like aesthetic of an otherworldly creature that, even though it might look cute and friendly, is still clearly inhumane and creepy. And they also follow through with their actual behavior (Shiinotic lures people deep into the woods before draining all their energy and leaving them to die, Hatterene hunts down anyone who intrudes into it's territory and breaks it's rules to horribly maul them). Together they would make any common forest seem like a world of terror.
Hatterene, at least to me, is a flawless Pokemon and easily one of my favorites. It being not just usable or good, but actually viable in both singles and doubles is just icing on the cake.
I just wish that it wasn't introduced in the worst gen in the entire series, why did SWSH have to be so bad? I can't wait for the day I can bring my Hatterene out of Galar and into a region that's actually good.
