Regarding your primary request for browsing ancient works, I refer to the suggestions from other Anons here to browse by date, plus the additions from what I have stated above. That said, you'll have great difficulties ahead if they haven't tagged their works properly in the summary or title.
There *were* sites like Bulbalibrary from way back in the day that hosted a variety of works, but like many of its contemporaries, it has long since gone the way of the dodo. You *might* be able to find such works from the Way Back Machine, but that's one hell of a long shot.

There are also sites like
Serebii.net, and of course the aforementioned Bulbagarden site's forum for the task if you want to trudge through that.

Contrary to popular belief, the Internet is NOT forever. Fics and the like disappear all the time, and those favorite works of yours may already be or will be at some point among them for any variety of reasons. Hence forth, I suggest using programs like Calibre with Fanfictionfare to archive multiple fics en mass from sites like AO3, and to a limited extent, forums like Spacebattles, Sufficient Velocity, and the other forms mentioned.
