>>49380413>A good part of fans wanted to games to actually grow and develop as a concept instead of stagnating.pla isn't growth or even stagnation, it's devolution. it's an even more barebones mainline pokemon game without level design, gyms, more than one town, breeding, abilities, held items, or the national dex. the small handful of things they've added or changed don't come close to making up for what's missing. 99% of the "gameplay" now boils down to busywork like catching the same pokemon 30 times or watching them use the same move 20 times so you can check it off the arbitrary to-do list. it's boring as fuck.
real growth to me would have entailed figuring out new ways to apply the traditional rpg formula to the world of pokemon. i would have loved to have played as a team skull grunt moving their way up the organization. or an ultra recon squad member splitting time between alola and ultra space while seeking the truth about the wormholes. instead, we've gone from cargo-cult rehashes of gen 1 to a cargo-cult rehash of ubisoft. where's the improvement?
>As a side note, Kirby is also finally getting it's first proper 3d titleyeah, and it's still an actual kirby game, just with a different camera angle. they didn't go full retard and turn the series into "assassin's creed: dream land." imagine that. this is why kirby will always be my favorite nintendo series. hal is one of the few studios left who understands that not every single-player game needs to look, feel and play the exact same as each other.
