>>43192549I feel the same way. Mega Absol furthered the design concepts of the original without being a replacement. If only gen 6 didn’t fuck up the art direction because the other megas either “just get bigger” or are so different they should have been a cross-gen evolution (not saying that they’re necessarily good). They couldn’t decide what they wanted mega evolution to be, some megas added entirely new design concepts (like pinsir and metagross flying, or obamasnow being a crystal tree), some megas just got swol (heracross and swampert), some completely updated the design (like mawile and lopunny who look different enough from the megas that they could have just been new Evos),while some remained faithful to the original design and just emphasized certain features. They fucked up when they failed to stick to a design philosophy. I think that’s why so many people will say they hate megas even if they liked some of the new designs.
