Singles is ultimately much more chess-like than doubles because while doubles might be seeing a couple of turns ahead, singles might be seeing 15 turns ahead or more when considering what to do. While people might say the four pokemon over two introduces more strategy, the exact same can be said for singles, especially considering the larger number of viable strategies in singles (in terms of team composition). I could see a 6v6 doubles with community bans being interesting but idk.

mental herb is a common item on trick room builds
there are dozens of ways to play like normalspam that allow this exact shit with a magnet pull user (I just used this to climb the ZU ladder using probopass) which literally allows me to spam choice boosted normal type attacks over and over again like a brainless retard after I remove the rock/steel type
VGC often relies on quick choices while singles is based on the long game while building up momentum until one player reaches the breaking point and is swept or has the wincon removed
