>>34584237It's funny, if you've been on /vp/ long enough you can see the shift that's happened over time.
It used to be universally agreed that Gen 2 and 3 were the best and both had their strong points, Gen 4 was a mistake except for HG/SS, and Gen 5 was cancer. Then the generation that grew up with Gen 1 and 2 became outnumbered by newfags who grew up with Gen 3: The "Hoennbabbby".
Then even newer newfags arrived, the generation that never even had a GBA and grew up with Nintendo DS: Commonly known as "the Sinnohfetus". They unironically believe that Diamond and Pearl were good games and think liking anything before Gen 3 is pure rose-tinted glasses. They don't see anything wrong with Gen 4's Pokemon designs and they think Mt. Coronet is an acceptable map. They are known to enjoy laggy games and hate all fire types unless they're fire/fighting starters.
Then, even newer newfags flooded the board. This generation, the "Unovabortions", picture the DSi when someone says "Nintendo DS". Their first game console was in all likelihood a PS3 or Wii. So far, no one has been able to establish meaningful contact with this strange and primitive breed of hominid, but apparently they like to spam pictures of a green-haired man they find sexually attractive, prefer as much filler as possible in their video games, and find ice cream cones to be dynamic and interesting. I also hear they turn off antialiasing whenever possible to maximize the jaggies, and prefer to play DS games where the bottom screen is useless.
In the past year or so, we have seen the beginning of the next shift. Right now, it is near-universally accepted that Gen 6 was garbage, and Gen 7 is pure cancer. But look hard enough, and listen closely, and you will hear strange, manic whispers. Things like "I liked Team Flare!" or "It shouldn't have Battle Frontier, it's an R/S remake!". They're testing the waters. They'll be here en masse very soon. The Kalosperm.
