I might be in the mood to play Crystal but Red, Blue, Gold and Silver are literally way too broken or way too outdated to enjoy now. It's 2022, it's time to move on.

Why group Red and Blue, with their ugly backsprites, with Gold and Silver? GS literally have the same graphics as Crystal aside from the lack of animated sprites.

There are still a few advantages of playing GS over HGSS though. It's not in the slow Gen 4 engine, it has the better soundtrack, and it doesn't overburden you with meaningless dialogue and force you to battle the cover legendary.

Biggest head to body ratio out of all 2D generations. Thats why it looks heh. Also personally I've never been fond of the 3D landscape with 2D sprites of gen 4/5, it looks messy most of the time and pulls me out of the game.
Gen 3 was the peak aesthetically.

This is an official image from a Pokemon trailer IIRC. They were being misleading as hell since following Pokemon wasn't a thing in GSC, RSE, DPPt or BWBW2
