>It’s now my Venusaur against his Venusaur in an honorable Venusaur duel
>It boils down to us basically spamming sludge bomb over and over, and getting our health up with Synthesis when we need it
>Suddenly, he gets a critical hit
>My Venusaur gets a critical hit back in return
>He uses Synthesis, and I fire back once more
>He’s forced to do it again as he's still around 50% of his health and while I don’t get another crit, I do land a decently high roll for damage
>This is 18 turns into the duel of saurs and I remember how he was forced to use Synthesis early on
>This means he has only one more use of it left at this point
>I keep applying pressure and force him to use it again, then heal off my own damage (I had three left by this point)
>He’s now out of Synthesis and accepts his defeat with dignity as I KO his Venusaur
I think this battle will always have a special place in my heart, even though it was over WiFi with some random dude I’ve never met. Something about having a 1v1 duel against another person with the same pokemon, yet using the exact opposite set is just so awesome to me. It’s like the ultimate duel of Venusaurs, defense against offense. I’m glad I was able to get a replay of this one, and also pleased he didn’t DQ or forfeit. I feel like he respected the duel just as much as I did that day.
