They also don't shed because of their curly coat. The reason they have a coat like that is because they're bred to hunt water fowl, and their coat is water resistant. The reason the whole puff ball on their ankles thing started is because they would be groomed to have extra fur there to keep their joints warm from the cold water.
I'm glad that everything is being cross bred with poodles to create more hypo-allergenic breeds, because poodles are great, and more people need to realize that.
