>>26515760This place is so underrated. Partly for the comfiness, but it's also just an incredibly stand-out location.
>The music>The theme of a village being on a bridge>The memorable charactersThe shy girl, singing man, the dude who is one battle from retirement, ect
>The fact that quite a few people actually battle you, despite it being a "safe zone".I wish more towns and cities had battles for you. I find it comfy and relaxing. Only Gen 5 had the balls to do it though.
I'm glad you have to travel through it in B2/W2. There are probably people who only played B/W who never even bothered with it because it was postgame.
>>26513203Very similar story. I was playing Gold for a very long time, as it was the only escape I had from abusive parents and bullies. The calming locations helped me a lot. Eventually a bully stole my Game Boy and game. I was pretty poor, I skipped most of Gen 3, just because I couldn't afford it. Played Sapphire after D/P were already out. When I finally got a DS with Platinum, it was only 3 months after where HeartGold was announced, and I think it's the reason I got hooked and still play today. Platinum welcomed me back with open arms, but HeartGold took me home. I'm actually playing those games as we speak, finishing up HG's Post-Game, while playing through early Platinum.
For me, it was those Regions, the comfy atmosphere, locations, and music, that stood out to me. A brilliant contrast to all the adventure they could provide. Even when playing Gen 5, I aim to play during Autumn and Winter, so I can get that same feeling of comfiness.
I enjoy all the games, to an extent. But the Summer-y ones just don't do it for me. Not the way the Johto/Sinnoh games do.
It's why I am a little upset we just had Hoenn, and are now getting ANOTHER Tropical/Island themed Region. But alas. Hopefully something calmer and more relaxing will be after.
