The next starter option we have is Torchic, the fire chick Pokemon. Unassuming and cute in its base stage, in Torchic lies a dormant power waiting to be unlocked as it progresses through the region's challenges. In its starting levels this little firecracker of a bird has the moves Scratch, Ember and Peck at its disposal. It turns out that while it would seem this Pokemon possesses a glaring weakness to the likes of rock type Pokemon, the designated Pokemon type of the region's first gym, Torchic evolves into a fire/fighting type Pokemon, Combusken, at level 16, immediately gaining access to the two-time hitting fighting type move Double Kick! It does not take long for this sprawling fire cock to start dominating in battle, especially with the aid of supporting moves in that of Sand Attack and Bulk Up. It evolves again into Blaziken at level 36, gaining access to strong combat style moves in that of Blaze Kick and Sky Uppercut. Although the Hoenn region is abundant with water types, Blaziken still has the power to hold its own handily against any foe in the region, not even taking into account its access to supplementary moves in that of Earthquake (TM) and Thunderpunch (Move Tutor). Indeed, at 120 base Attack and 110 base Special Attack, good speed, and strong moves, Blaziken despite its fair amount of type disadvantages is easily one of the strongest Pokemon in the game!
