>>44855911But yeah, the fact TPCi has devolved into doing 4Kids-style censorship as you posted (this started back in late XY, see attached pic), replaces more of the OST than 4Kids did when they dubbed Pokemon for the last 6 years in a row now, does crappy opening themes to this day, and the voice acting is just terrible as well to this day...the modern Pokemon dub is like the worst of both dub runs in one package, to sum it up.
Basically what happened = TPCi still edits/censors the show and still rewrites the script like 4Kids did, but we lost the original English dub voice cast (which were all better across the board at their roles), we lost a writer that actually made Team Rocket speak like human beings (Cathcart nu-James/Oak/Meowth is absolute trash at it), lost opening themes that weren't always about friendship and cheesy (also lost 1 min long themes, nowadays 30 seconds), and finally lost Japanese music the dub used to keep nowadays too.
You'd think a dub this bad would get more attention given how great most dubs are in 2020, but just like DBZ's OG FUNi dub pre-Orange Bricks and Bruce Faulconer, nostalgia is a powerful drug for Pokemon dub fans. There is objectively no redeeming quality to the Pokemon Journeys dub, or any Pokemon dub of the Anime XY onward.
