The role of Arceus was exactly that. He was made to be impotent and soft in the face of something as abstract as emotions, and his arrival and consoling of Mesprit is meant to be a mirror of what Cyrus did with her. Both sought the wisdom of a power higher than themselves, and, at least in Cyrus's case, was ultimately broken / disappointed.
Of course it was left open ended so we'll never actually know how she felt or responded.
I actually felt a similar way with Arceus, and tried to think of ways to keep him in the story and give him a bigger role, but most my ideas didn't seem to fit properly, and removing it kind of made the ending feel barren, so I just left it as is.
I think I may have used acetic too much, but like with Arceus, I just ran with it because I wanted to post it.
Regardless, I'm glad you enjoyed it overall! These ideas aren't exactly easy to come up with, and I'm glad to see people liking it.
I really do appreciate the feedback very much, thank you for taking the type to type up a response, it means a lot to me!
