>>43844325All the games feel kinda tedious as an adult to be honest. The main stories are easy and you really don't need to put in any real effort assuming you understand type match-ups. Even games I loved as a kid like FRLG are pretty boring upon revisiting.
I'd say play what you like, if you want to get into competitive you have a whole lot to learn and it can bring new depth to the game if the main draw to you is the battles. Other than that enjoy what you enjoy, since you haven't played every installment each one does have positive aspects worth visiting for you to explore just don't feel bad if you get burned out and don't feel bad for enjoying games others hate. Play the way you want to if it's all fresh you're sure to find something you like.
