2)The game isn't hard, it's cookie cutter obsolete smogon teams that can be swept after getting past a single gimmick. The problem with the game forcing you to level down is because it's literally the game forcing you to erase progress meaning that after a certain point trainer battles serve no purpose but to waste your time until the next point. It's fundamentally shit game design.
3)No one dropped it because it was too hard. Everything actually related to pokemon in the game is done poorly meaning the only reason anyone would play it is the story, and we know what that's worth.
