So nuzgen, I have a question. i realize I haven't ever finished a Johto game for a nuzlocke. I got pretty far in one, however, I never finished it due to the hardware I was using failing on me. My question is this? Crystal or the Gen 4 remakes?

I any way, may have missed him explaining what to do but when I disable the edit of layer masking, and try to use the layer styles for the moves, they just don't show up. I'm this close to giving up and assuming it's something to do with opening a Photoshop file in GIMP.

Somebody earlier was talking about herdier running train in white and I thought it was a joke. I see now the error of my ways. Terroir is going to carry us through to Lenora.

My luck with catching -def pokemon continues. Drillbur is hasty and pidove is naive (which is -SDef but its hurts an already painful stat anyway). The plan is to get everyone properly leveled and face Lenora mostly my own Watchog and his ability to detect how bullshit revenge is. Is this a bad plan or a terrible plan?

i need some real good advice.

is it even possible to defeat the first gym in black/white? it's basically impossible to get the lilypup without getting one of your own killed. especially since you have 4 pokes each at level 11 maximum without grinding for like 1 hour.

Phys/Spec split benefited totodile greatly, go for that. Cyndaquil's fared slightly less better, but it's still usable. chikorita if you want to truly be challenged

Made it throug. I had to abandon original plan of killing herdier with patrat to detect the retaliate but throh soaked the switch and wrecked the little fucker. Thought a long time about throwing Pidove under the bus and decided to risk herdier so he could get in an intimidate and he tanked it better than I thought he would. Of course I forgot all about hypnosis but using Throh and hope for early wake ups we were able to knock the gopher back in his hole. I think its going to get better from here for a while. Good luck y'all.

This seems to be the extension he talked about, if you hadn't already located it yourself, though my personal recommendation is of course to "procure" a version of Photoshop.

Also, I updated my mediafire package so that it now also contains a text document with my Reincarnationlocke rules, as well as a folder with the font files I use for the templates (the free Ubuntu font).

Could just play as the guy anon.
I really didn't like the surfer theme they had going on with that game. Hilbert and Hilda looked appropriate the MCs in 2 just looked silly in most areas aside from the eighth gym badge area.

Fire Red Omega is one of my favorites. Expert Emerald is pretty good too. Dark Rising/Snakewood if you want to get repetitively fisted. Or do some randomizer shit like other anons were talking about

I've had quiet a few close calls now. I came close to losing Kip and Veckla a few times. I was excited that I had a full team at one point, but I was forced to sacrifice Hussy the Makuhita to allow me to heal Veckla so I could finish off Brawly.

Eizenstein the Tentacool had some major potential, but he died to a critical hit. Most of these die when I'm training them up.

I haven't started my next run yet. I'm going to do a Johto game since I've done every other region as of right now. Not really looking forward to it since I don't like the region that much, but, I'll bite my tongue and see if I can stomach out to Red.

Not good. Cartridge grinding on white is slow or more boring than usual because Audino. This is my team in SacredGold so far. About to tackle Sprout Tower, but I'm training everyone up to at least 12 beforehand. Omega taught me to always overestimate levels of areas, especially with this one Dray having altered some stats/movepools.

Also have an Eevee, Bronzor, and Shinx sitting on the box.

Where did you get that template? I've never seen it broken up like that.

If it's like the other one (see >>18614592) then you just need to go to LAYERSTYLES_MOVECOLORS folder, right click on the type, and "copy layer style". Then go into the individual Mon folders under Pictures and apply the styles to each move slow.

Make sure you apply it to the "Move _" under Pictures, and not Text. If you do it under the text folder it'll just change the color of the text, not the background.

last pokemon game i played was ruby.

i enjoy challenges therefore i am looking into my first nuzlocke.

but i HATE being able to grind endlessy: it ruins the challenge for me.

so i was thinking of doing a nuzlocke with limited heal:
can heal only once to pkmn center, can use all the items i find but can only spend a fixed amount of money for every pokemart.

do you think this is possible? should i go for blaze black 2 with this ruleset? how much money should i be able to spend in pokemarts?

it woudl be my first time so i have no idea how fair/difficult the challenge would be.

Played a bit during my lunch/breaks at work. Caught Anollo and slapped EXP share on him before slapping Burgh around with Terroir and Sumoppet. Amazingly no losses, though Leavenny got an entirely expected crit on Sumoppet during the revengening. Picked up a Handbag at the desert resort and got to Nimbasa safely. Just when I started to feel safe I remembered Elesa is the next gym. Probably won't be so as hard as I expect but it may end poorly anyway.

I'm doing my first Nuzlocke, and I have a question. If you have an area contained entirely inside a route, like the fiery path on route 112, do they count as two seperate areas, or just one for the purposes of catching pokemon?
Obviously I could just say whatever for my own purposes, but I'm curious about what the rest of you do.

I just had my team wiped out by a Krabby in Cherrygrove I fished up. Couldn't run away and it was 5 levels higher than my Cyndaquil, Eevee, and Rattata.

I'm finished for today. I stopped by Route 5 before seeing Elesa and grabbed a Solosis. I used Handbag to fight the dude with two blitzle since he was getting paralyzing everyone, got put in a bad situation from a critical but non-killer flame charge and then I failed him by forgetting those Blitzle carry pursuit. Did some wandering around the map to grab whoever I could lock into a pokeball... it can only get better from here, right?

So a small update to my Heart Gold run. It's been pretty smooth so far, I wasn't expecting things to start really getting difficult till much later. Johto is a region I really want to like design wise, but, I can't get over the level scaling in it. That's why Storm Silver and Sacred Gold make it so much more enjoyable. As you can tell in the picture I just got to the next town with a gym. I missed a Pidgey on the very first route, but aside from that what you see is what I have. No deaths so far. Going to go catch a Slowpoke and take down teamrocket.

Well, I did it. Being so overlevelled was the only reason I made it through. Sadly lost the Nincada, and had lost Sandshrew Sprout Tower to the Sage.

Oh well. I will attempt this again later tonight. Going to see if playing in the evenings gets me anything interesting. I always hated the day/night exclusive Pokemon, and with SacredGold it's even worse since there are even more you can only get at certain times of day. I should try out Dray's B/W hacks one of these days, but I feel like I should play vanilla B/W first. Never got far into Gen 5.

Got to Goldenrod with no issues. Got headbutt and headbutted trees in both Ilex and Route 36 I believe. The two Pokemon there are what I got from it. Keeping Handy around since I've never used one before so it should be pretty fun. Not too worried about the next gym to be honest, I have faith in Geodude. After that I'll be able to catch my favorite rock type Pokemon so it'll be pretty based.

So I used the randomizer mentioned in the pastebin with White Version 2, but for some reason my Pokemon aren't earning XP. I checked through my saved setting to see if I maybe checked a box wrong but I can't catch anything.

Doing some last minute training before the gym leader. Catch for the previous route was a ditto but I just ran since I didn't want to deal with the hassle. Butterfree survives a critical with one hp, fuck critical hits man, just fuck em.

Gym leader was easy as always. Just did loops around her Miltank for fun. Party barely got hurt. Put it to minus 6 attack through tickle, and watched Geodude rip it a new asshole. Sadly I killed bro rock tree with a critical har har har/. Aside from that, new catch from Route 37 is Growlithe, which I'm more than okay with but know I won't get a firestone for a million years though.

If you download the patches themselves they come with documentation. You can also looks up youtube videos and such as well. Generally Dray's hacks come with a version that doesn't have the changes and just lets you catch all Pokemon. So you can run it with the changes or without the changes.

Well after my disastrous 2nd SacerdGold attempt earlier >>18620661 I was planning on starting my third attempt again tonight. But I think to break it up a little I might go do a blind B/W run first. I played B/W up until about the 5th gym back when it came out, but I don't remember anything about that gen, so it should be pretty much blind. Never even touched B/W2.

Probably going to go with White just because I'd prefer more triple battles to rotation battles.

Here's an update of my Y nuzlocke. Only one casualty so far, and it was Wetzle the Panpour, who took a powered up and crit Power Up Punch to the face. Thankfully, I have plenty of backups. Trash cloak Wormadam and Swalot are turning out pretty damn useful too.

Also, sorry for shitty quality, I took this with my phone. My computers busted so I can't do that fancy template stuff

I seem to be really slow with this Nuzlocke, although I still find myself wishing it was kind of harder. Might start implementing a PokeCenter limit so I grind less. Also definitely having a hard time decided on the best combination of mons for my team. Any suggestions? I just entered Ambrette Town so I might wait until I might just wait until I stumble across something besides bug, flying, or normal types. Damn Viola and her Infestation on my Pikachu!

Well everything went horrible coming through Pinwheel, lost Dunsparce to the first Ranger's Heracross when locked into Rollout stupidly, then lost Golbat and Kricketune to the Plasma in middle of forest, surprise crits when not expexcting. Had to rely on Eazy-E to make my way through, and he preformed splendidly.

Made my way to Castelia and caught me a Scraggy with will not help for next gym unfortunately, was hoping for a Darumaka but you make do. Debating which fossil to get for Burgh, any opinions? Either gonna be Aerodactyl if I can get before, Archeops or Armaldo I'm thinking.

Blood Ernie was MVP but the silent hero definitely was Yu Hao. A crit aqua jet was what killed off Excadrill after Blood Ernie missed Storm Throw twice.

Have a full party now, just kicked Team Plasma out of the Wellspring Cave place. Was going to slap together a character sheet real quick, but in the process realized I've been using a Munna from the Dreamyard, even though I was gifted the Panpour in Dreamyard earlier. Completely slipped my mind, so I'll be releasing the Munna.

I'm not really enjoying this run too much so far. I like a lot of Gen 5 Pokemon, but these early ones are some of my least favorite. I do like my Lillipup a lot, and my starter is alright. Munna, Panpour, and Swoobat are all some of my least favorite Pokemon. The Blitzle is a neat design, but he seems incredibly squishy. I nearly lost him to a level 4 when he was level 8 and I was trying to level him up some.

Maybe I'm just spoiled by the larger variety of encounters from romhacks.

Machop, Timburr, and Sandile can be fun starters. Poliwhirl and Seedot as well, if you want to keep the same elemental choices. Really anything with a 3-stage evolution works. Also >>18628866

So what's usually the ruling for Pinwheel Forest? There's the forest area itself, and then there is this weird pseudo-Route between the forest screen and Nacrene City. Do people tend to count those as two seperate areas, or that it's all technically Pinwheel Forest and so you can only have one catch between the two.

There's really no reason to use the 32-bit version if you have a 64-bit OS. As for settings, default ones work just fine, unless you're playing HG/SS. Those two seem to have lots of issues emulating no matter what settings you use.

Welp, Matilda was smacked down by a Dwebble in Castelia City Gym by one of the trainers before Burgh. I was just starting to really change my opinion on Woobat too, it was a great little Pokemon. Sadly I don't really have anything now that is type effective against Bug, so the gym might not go as smoothly as I had hoped.

Picked up a Cotonee in Pinewheel Forest, it'll probably go back in the box once I catch something else in the next Route.
