>>53348024>then canon doesn't fucking existThis is literally true, we got interviews of Masuda saying they don't think too hard about it. Prior to Gen 9, Foongus specifically mimicked Pokéballs, now in the Gen 9 Dex entry it states that the creator of Pokéballs was just a big fan of Foongus.
Whether the Anime is canon or not has been a topic of debate for ages, and now that megas, z moves and other gimmicks were discarded its even questionable whether they were ever real in the first place, with even Roaring Moon and Iron Valiant tiptoeing around the topic and not flat out stating that they resemble Mega Evolutions.
Really, the only thing that should be considered canon in these discussions is the game being discussed.
