Biggest reason initially was the aesthetic of the series; I absolutely love the designs of a lot of Pokemon, and really like cute things.
I also like the strategy that game can have... Especially if you get into competitive.
Also, the amount of fanmade content between ROM hacks, simulators, art, fiction, and everything else is absolutely staggering.
The games themselves have a ton to do as well...
As for /vp/, some of the reglar threads we have here are fun as fuck. For example, it's so easy to kill an afternoon in Showderp... (Especially when we used to have that
Turntable.fm room)
IMO this place is so much better than any other game board.
