>>49733273You vastly overestimate the ability of elite trainers and their pokemon.
Even Leon's CHARIZAAAARD gets affected by a thunder wave, or a Toxic. Nothing to say of Leon himself. It's the same with every other veteran trainer. Corner the person, send out a few mons with Prankster to inflict status fuckery, and it's over. Remember that pretty much all battles in the game are geared towards 1v1 situations—all strategy, positioning, experience...
So what happens when you turn a 1v1 into an 8v1? A 12v1? You need numbers to deal with numbers, simple as.
It gets even EASIER if you just assasinate the trainer before they take out their pokeball. In a situation where you just want to kill someone, there's plenty of room to get creative. Set up an ambush with Zoroark illusions, fissure a hole in the ground beneath them, get a disguised Keckleon to strangle them, snipe them with an Ice Shard through the neck, set up Spores where they're going, have a Ghost type Curse them, hide Toxic Spikes in the ground beneath them, indiscriminately crush them with an Earthquake, Trick a live grenade into their hands, and so on and so forth.
Everybody has a weakness. Nobody is too high and mighty to get assasinated, or ganged up on.
