I've never had much trouble with Brawly, but I think you'll be fine since Tentacool resists pretty much anything Brawly throws at you.
If you don't feel too sure about your encounters you can always just skip Brawly entirely and save him for later. You don't actually need to fight Brawly to progress the story.
