Snorunt is a really cool Pokémon, but his evolution didn't live up to it.

Masuda assumed Gold direction around this time of the beta... I think he had another idea for Pokémon, the designes were less collected and more round and stuff.

i used to imagine what it would be like seeing a gyrados in an ocean or a caterpie in some bushes when i was a kid. i can't imagine the new cartoony style of pokemon ever evoking that emotion with kids currently

yup. junichi masuda is a complete and total hack. if we had a producer who was actually passionate about making a next generation pokemon we wouldn't be in this mess. get ready to play the most barebones pokemon game ever created with a really cartoony cell shaded like artstyle reminescent of the 3ds games since all they will do is upscale those models.

Pokemon has gone to utter shit for a reason, the producer just does the absolute bare minimum to call it a pokemon game and collects his pay check. he doesn't have the passion and will even go out of his way to remove any semblence of the difficulty curve the older games had to make sure each game is more boring and shorter than the last

the most amount of hype this board felt over pokemon in an entire year was over literal fakes a week ago

anyone with a brain knows gamefreak stopped trying after HG/SS. pokemon games aren't about cramming content and adventure to make the greatest handheld rpg of all time, they are just about a quick hand holdy story mode and a "buy the sequel which adds little to no content" now.

they just got lazy and knew we'd buy it anyway

also the bud on the grass starter has too much detail on it. this is not how current pokemon are designed. they are designed so merch can easily be made of them and that bud would prove problamatic. this isn't gen 1/2 when the designs actually looked like real pokemon, now we just get "Cartoony Animal"

there is a reason why gen 1 pokemon toys looked so derpy and off. its cause those pokemon had lots of detail and less simplistic shapes in their designs.
