>>50383318Aside from the charizard schizo remark, this is totally accurate, pokemon is terribly designed for multiplayer because most of its mechanics are staples of SINGLE player RPGs. Name 1 other respected PVP competitive game that is as heavily intertwined with RNG. Pokémon has fucking accuracy, chances at secondary effects on a massive amount of moves, damage rolls, the potential for random crits, stuff like sleep, confusion and (god help you) freeze relies on RNG to determine duration, some abilities like moody rely on RNG, it is ALL FUCKING RNG. Even one bad roll, even one random crit, can swing a whole match in another direction and result in a win or loss.
>Inb4 playing around RNG is part of the skillYes this is true but you shouldn’t NEED to play around RNG, it would only be better without it. Sure, if you can play around random tripping in brawl you’d be pretty skilled for it, doesn’t make tripping anything but an annoyance that worsens the game tho. I’ve been saying this for years, pokemon CANT keep trying to make a single player RPG that doubles as a competitive meta, the 2 go off of completing different design rules, the more they focus on one the worse the other becomes. We need to separate the 2 already
