>>55333339This man? Who wears capes EVERYWHERE to show his status? He likes it more than he lets on- but mostly because it makes him feel important and likes to impress people with how well he cleans up when he's not allowed to wear the sweaty jumpsuit to a ceremony or black tie event. It's an excuse to wear the Rolex he earned and all the ~gucci~ $$$$ pocket squares and other luxury items he rewards himself with. This man likes fine things, and he spares no expense because he KNOWS he deserves it. His fiery swagger cannot be contained.
He likes how good he looks in a suit, but hates how restricting formal wear can be. He doesn't really prefer western formal wear, but his traditional clothing is intrinsically linked with the pressure of dealing with clan elders and loooong ceremonies he's sat through since childhood, whereas his suits are typically more public-related and therefore less pressure on him, so doesn't trigger that 'ugh' response.
That said, he doesn't at all mind dressing well to show respect to whoever he's meeting, and to be respectable for whoever he's representing. Raised in his clan, it's both privilege and responsibility to inherit and uphold tradition, as well as exhibit their genteel values and upbringing. As is revealed by Clair (double entendre intended) dragons can be shamelessly ostentatious, yes, but they are also elegant and well-bred and won't soon let you forget it.
