A lot of people seem to agree that every villainous team has sucked since Gen III. They just seem so dumb compared to the original mean mafiosa/corporate org that was team rocket. Team Rocket is pretty unique too. You see corporate baddie tropes or mafiosa tropes, but somehow they mixed that, along with sciency tropes to produce an iconic antagonist.
Anything where the goal is steal people's pokemon, cause pokemon misery, cause people misery and then rule the world with an iron fist for evil means should be the basic structure. Only Giovanni's corp gets it right.
That said, B2W2 had a neato version of Team Plasma... though they're just Team Rocket with more conflicted motives.
