>>33760965>I’ve written Weavile as more tactical and deliberate based off how it “carves patterns in trees with its claws as a signal to others” and “forming groups of four or five that hunt prey with impressive coordination” suggesting a pack-hunting attitude with an emphasis on careful preparation.>On the other hand, Sneasel has a much shiftier, yet spontaneous approach: “it seeks out unguarded nests and steals eggs for food while the parents are away” and “suddenly extends the claws and startles its enemy” prompting a stereotype that Sneasel is sly and reactive. One thing I love about the pokedex is that while informative, it's just vague enough to let you draw conclusions on how certain species act and even then, not everyone sees it the same way. Gives fanfiction some unique flavour because of this- what with how no one really sees pokemon the same way.
For example, I see sneasel as a traditional pack hunter species that favor working together over working solo. With this in mind, including the pack mentality of weavile, I'd see a more tribal life for the two species- a group of elder weavile who hold command over the sneasel.
What makes this interesting is that because weavile have a system of writing, which I assume sneasel can understand, the species is one of the ones closest to being able to replace humanity if given the right circumstances. Dexterous, smart, have a natural sense of hierarchy and cooperation, and even a language- though written, can be made a spoken one, as MD had done. It'd make a neat comic in my mind.I do wonder, what other species could possibly replace humanity (by circumstance, not force) if given the means? Any ideas?
