>>40495476This is a good thread as any to shit out a maybe unpopular opinion I have on the perfect Pokemon game.
The normie opinion is an MMORPG with all regions in it, but I have various problems with that that I won't get into as to not write an essay.
However, I think the perfect model for Pokemon is an online-based, but not MMO live service game. Think Destiny.
Think about it, you'd get the base game designed to be built upon for years with new content and systems, you'd get smaller seasonal content updates every 2-3 months with things like new facilities/activities in the existing region such as tournaments, visits from gym leaders, new dungeons, new items to get, new Pokemon gradually unlocked to hunt, legendary events, etc.
Then every year you'd get a big paid expansion, that unlike seasonal content updates that focus on activities and smaller portions of content in the existing areas, these expansions add entire new zones to the game, like a new huge chunk of a region to explore, and sets the stage for the seasonal updates to come throughout the rest of that expansion's 1 year cycle.
I think the series is fucking perfect for this model. You don't get the drawbacks of MMOs, it'd still be a 1-4 player experience that you can play with friends or alone, but the constant stream of content and features gives the game absurd longevity.
Even TPC and Nintendo would love it, since a title like this has the potental to be evergreen, to sell well for the entirety of a console's life cycle, as well as cosmetic monetization to get the whale audience that Masters only barely managed to scratch for a week.
