>>50256209DP is fucking retarded, none of Cyrus' plotting makes any sense and neither does the existence of Team Galactic (nor their plans)- Plat fixed a lot of this with Cyrus being rightfully punished with death(?) for being a fucking idiot and giving reason for the grunts to follow him, but it still doesn't clear up what the hell they're doing for most of the game and is generally stupid
I only put it that high because I really really do like the Distortion world segment and its postgame segment better, all the rematches at the frontier help build character and add to the characters outside of Galactic and Rowan that endear it to me a lot more
BW is probably the best narrative if only for the fact that it actually... tries? It's a little blunt, but it does try and explore some moral ambiguity and give a lesson by the end. It kind of fumbles it, but it has a lot of very cool lore behind it (I will never get tired of Ghetsis/N speculation) and it does make you think for a while until the ending kind of removes the ambiguity. Full bias here as Gen 5 is one of my favorites, but I still felt the need to explain why
BW2 is just shit, it's trying to do the GSC thing where it's the evil team desperate and on the ropes, but it does this by showing you that your rival is an obsessive idiot who can't get over a single stupid cat from several years ago being stolen by them- I don't mind the concept, but the way Hugh *never* shuts up about it makes me think of Hop and Hau and I really really hate him (even if the breakdown at the end when he finds out what happened to the Purrloin is pretty decent). Also I wish that Team Plasma's split was explored further than Driftveil; this just kind of seems like a lazy way to do things with a lot of missed potential, "team went nuts and is just committing terrorism now because the figurehead wants to rule the world" is a bad way to follow up "mysterious figures want to separate humans and pokemon for the betterment of the latter"
