I replayed pokemon red after so many years and… now I remember why I even liked this series in the first place, I started playing it and I just remember what pokemon was all about, I started with pearl but red was the one to rekindle my love for this series, it was just simple, there was no god pokemon, there was no shitty lore, there was no extreme edgy characters, it was just a nice simple fun time, filling the dex felt actually satisfying again (PLA also had a satisfying dex filling but it’s a different kind of satisfying) the art style just felt so different from everything else yet it felt like home, the region felt like a normal place instead of a “look at this, this is the pokemon (real world equivalent structure here), the place actually felt like it had it’s own identity, the characters were more charming than ever and the music just felt nice, It was just so nice to not care about stats and comp or whatever in pokemon again, it just has a different more homely vibe compared to modern games, thank you pokemon red for reminding me why I love pokémon
