The emphasis on cosmetics and customization, the emphasis on friend groups that jerk each other off all the time, the emphasis on sterilized safe settings like schools, vacation trips, sports leagues, the gay little Z move dances and Tera hats, the selfie photo mode, the clown costumes when riding a bike/Pokemon in gen 7 and 8 etc.

I miss when Pokemon had an edge to it. It was never EDGY, but it wasn't fucking babified toddler slop either. The world felt like an actual world, not a theme park ride where you play with action figures.

To GF's credit Legends recovered some of that atmosphere from the old games but we went back to the same in gen 9 which aren't necessarily bad games but don't feel like real Pokemon
