I got irrationally happy when I saw Acerola and Nanu in ̶p̶o̶g̶ anime form. The middle part of the SM games blurs together a bit, but Acerola's Trial in the abandoned grocery store up to Nanu's battle after Po Town was the height of the game's excitement for me. Po Town especially is the part of SM I remember most fondly, since it's the closest thing to a dungeon that isn't just another route. So yeah, this episode really felt like business was about to pick up.
I'll also admit that the reveal that Acerola's Mimikyu was an actual ghost managed to surprise me. Looking back over some of the parts of the episode, it should've been obvious and not that much of a twist, but I just figured, "Oh, it's a shiny Mimikyu, and Mimikyu's a ghost type, no reason it can't fly. Team Rocket's must just be stupid." So bravo, Aya Matsui, you fucking boomed me.
