I do still like revisiting Gen 1, and 2 alongside it. The adventure has aged very well. The level of freedom that you had to get lost in the world and figure out how to progress makes it special. Red was hard for me as a kid, but coming back to it years later, knowing all the tricks, all the shortcuts, all the optional routes. Its fun to rediscover this game and have a laugh at my younger self. The series has lost more and more of that philosophy with each passing Generation, only now tinkering with open world game design because fucking Zelda made it trendy.
