I don't understand genwunners' nostalgiagoggles about Charizard. He literally makes the game more difficult in RBY/FRLG AND LGPE.

He's weak and a hindrance in each of these games due to typing.

5 year old me aced the game with just charizard on Pokémon red back when it was new

The games have no semblance of difficulty unless you are literally mentally challenged to the point that you can’t even operate the controls

I really wish people would stop parroting this garbage because while that may have been the intention like with many things in gen 1 it doesn't work.
Brock's pokemon have incredibly low special so it is entirely easy to just ignore the type match up and take them both out with ember while Misty is always the hardest leader even if you have the better type because she's using incredibly fast pokemon which also means they have higher chance to crit.

The only ones you have to worry about is Lorelei and Lance, and if you're soloing it's very likely Charizard is still overlevelled and can easily take them all down.
