It's a fucking franchise, one of the most successful franchises in the history of the fucking world and, yet, every fucking generation is the same copy-pasted shit. Character designs, pokemon designs, regions, mechanics, leagues, trainers everything is fucking copy-pasted.
Oh WOW another generic as fuck Swimmer trainer using generic as fuck fish pokemon. Oh, amazing another goddamn bird pokemon, is that a DRAGON PSEUDO-LEGENDARY? Oh man, the Elite Four all specialises in one type each and have shit teams? Wowsers.
Everything that could be considered an upgrade in the franchise (following pokemon, seasons, rotation battles, safari zone, post-game content, title defense, etc) is just removed at some goddamned point while they continue to casualise shit that has been around since Gen 3.
Literally everything good since Gen 3 has been neglected or removed in the proceeding generation. Even Gen 3 was guilty with shit like Day-Night system removal, loss of Poke Ball making and the idea of revisiting the previous region as postgame content. It's arguable that the ONLY generation that removed nothing from the previous generation was Gen fucking 2, which was just a overpriced DLC equivalent to Gen 1.
GameFreak is garbage. I can't think of a single other franchise with such fame and wealth that fails to actually grow and, rather, only regresses. The only possible exception to this claim would be, perhaps, Star Wars and I can at least fucking claim that Disney Star Wars added to the appeal and fear factor of Darth Vader with Star Wars Rebels and the Darth Vader comics.
What the FUCK has GameFreak actually innovated with, since Gen 3, that they didn't just immediately scrap? The only thing I can think of is GTS, which is just an expansion of an already existing system. Mega Evolutions are neglected beyond Gen 6 and Z-Moves seem to be following.
