When normalfags buy in to a console, Pokémon's power dwindles, because it's not just the nerds and kids getting the systems to play. GBA did garbage numbers until Pokémon launched, with all games of Gen 3 outselling the next nearest selling games by 2m (some flavour of core Mario) while GBA only did 81m total consoles sold. Similarly, 3DS sold about as well as could be expected from the gimmick, but was obsolete at launch, until Pokémon launched and sparked sales, alongside the 2DS.
DS and Switch were popular right out the gate, meaning it was more than pokédrones buying in (and as evidenced the mariofags WOULD buy the games, if they were made to give a shit about the console they appeared on), which leads directly to a repeat of history - 4 non-pokémon titles, followed closely by Pokémon in 5th and 6th.
