Plenty of other tournaments in all other kinds of media can make all the other fights besides the finals feel and be meaningful, interesting and good.
If all they wanted and cared about then there was plenty of ways to go about that didn't require taking a big fat shit on all the other Champions or completely ruin a once in a lifetime event like a tournament between Champions.
Just because the PM staff are total hacks doesn't excuse or justifies anything.
